STROKE AWARENESS AND EDUCATION

Fawcett Memorial Hospital's stroke team provides the community with seminars and lectures, radio information, instructional presentations, literature, audio-visual materials, and stroke screenings to teach the community about stroke prevention and management. Emergency Medical Service workers have also been trained to recognize symptoms, provide the most appropriate medical support and transport of patients quickly to the Emergency Room. When patients arrive soon after the start of symptoms, our ability to offer all available treatments is increased because certain effective drugs can only be given within 3 hours from the onset of symptoms.
